Updating the Solid

This task shows how to update a solid after having modified the geometry of your design.
We strongly advise against using the standard V5 local or global update commands to update a solid.
The operating mode described below offers analyses and messages that will help you improve the quality of your design and hence of the updated solid.

The messages below may appear also at the creation of the solid.
Open Open SolidFromZoneSA1.CATPart from the samples directory, create the solid as explained in Creating an Associative Solid From Zones and modify the geometry of the design.

  1. When you have modified the geometry of you design, the solid already created turns red, indicating it must be updated.

  2. Instead of clicking Local Update or Update All, double-click the solid.
    The Solid from Zones dialog box is displayed (you are in fact editing the solid).

  3. Click Apply. The solid is analyzed, and if design errors are detected, messages like the ones below are displayed:
    In this case, the faulty or missing ITPs are shown in the 3D viewer.

    In this case, the name of the faulty ITP is displayed in the title and a by-pass is proposed.
    You can also modify the value of the ITP.

  4. Exit the dialog box and modify the geometry as proposed.
    Restart at Step1. When no errors are detected, no messages are displayed and the solid is updated when you click OK.
